JWK & The Read House

We’ve talked about the connection between J.W. Kelly & The Read House before. But we can never talk about this history too much!

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of this historic hotel, J.W. Kelly & Co is currently working in partnership to commemorate this historic event. We’re kicking it off with a giveway (so don’t miss that!!)!

We’re also going to share more of the historic articles, advertisements, images we’ve found that connect JWK & Co and The Read House.

1867

Nashville Union & American 9-22-1867

One year after moving to Chattanooga, Kelly’s business is affected by the fire that burned down the Crutchfield House, predecessor to The Read House.

1869

This was Kelly’s first partnership in Chattanooga.

J.G. Webb was J.W. Kelly’s business partner. Kelly was 50% owner of this restaurant. It was actually part of the hotel at the time.
