Silver Springs
When J.W. Kelly arrived in Chattanooga in September 1866, he opened up a storefront to sell groceries and then expanded into whiskey distribution and opened a distillery. Deep Spring Distillery produced more than ten labels, all named after Tennessee history and locales, including Silver Spring; which was produced from 1900 - 1919.
This Sweet Rye is accomplished with the addition of corn in the mash bill. The rye is housed in #3 charred oak barrels for a minimum of four years. The end result is a sweet & spicy rye whiskey. Silver Springs Sweet Rye Whiskey is bottled at cask strength. The nose is molasses, burnt sugar, and toffee. The palette is caramel, nougat and hot cinnamon candy. The finish is spicy rye with a long dry finish.
