Chattanooga's First Steel Frame Building.

This isn’t the first time we’ve shared the following article (you can read that post here). It is however the first time we noticed something pretty cool. Here’s the original snip from the Chattanooga News July 24, 1906:

It’s a wonderful depiction of the updated office building and the distillery. Not to mention the special edition Deep Spring whiskey label. There was something more that we noticed about the office building, though . . .

The original building at 13-15 W. 9th Street was erected from wood, and updated over the many years. In 1906, though, it was decided to overhaul the building a bit and expand upon the additions that Kelly previously added to the building.

Oh, and yeah, it was the first steel frame building to be erected in Chattanooga.

This building stood from about 1873 to about 1972-73. It is sad that it was not preserved in any way, as its historical significance to the city is profound. Let’s follow the timeline a bit . . .
