J.W. Kelly & Budweiser
J.W. Kelly built many relationships with several beer, wine, spirits, and tobacco companies - most as their exclusive distributor in the Chattanooga area. Perhaps the relationship that lasted the longest was with Budweiser.
Kelly’s relationship began with them in around 1891, as the first advertisements appeared in the newspaper in 1892. It was known as Conrad’s Budweiser then, and the firm of Kelly & Davenport was the exclusive distributor in Chattanooga.
We thought it would be fun to view the history between the two companies via advertisements placed in the newspaper. These aren’t all of the advertisements placed by Kelly, but it’s a good sampling. We’ll post them in order by decade.
